Florence Metzger

After a first career as a Merchant Marine Officer, Florence resumed her studies to become a teacher of French as a foreign language and a technical translator from English into French. She has been working as a French teacher at ITER for 10 years. She is particularly interested in languages and intercultural

Sandrine Lamblin

With a master’s degree in French as a foreign language, Sandrine began her career as a French teacher abroad,  in Germany and Austria. Back in France, she continued to teach French to foreigners in various companies and in language or business schools. She also became a DELF and DALF examiner. She has been working at ITER for almost 10 years, first on construction site and then at headquarters. She is interested in languages, travels, personal development, dance, music, sports.

SCHEDULE and GROUPS

Levels are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages described on this page.

Each group has class twice a week for one hour. 

Tutoring sessions are available in complement of group classes.

In September, the learning year starts with 6 groups (Groups 1 to 6). Later in the year, new beginner groups (Group 7 and Group 8) are open to accommodate the new complete beginners arriving at ITER.

All learners receive Outlook invitations to access the Group classes.

We advise all participants to turn on their laptop camera during class (network permitting).

TUTORING SESSIONS

Tutoring sessions are designed to help learners improve their speaking skills. The teacher can also help each learner with their specific needs, finding new learning strategies, taking into account the mother tongue, preferences and learning style.

These sessions are optional, but highly recommended, and have to be booked in advance via an on-line calendar.

Rules of participation in the Tutoring sessions:

  • Each learner can book one tutoring session per week.
  • Each tutoring slot can accommodate from one to two learners of the same level.
  • Sessions are booked on the basis of first come, first served.
  • Turn on their laptop camera during class (network permitting).

Steps to participate in Tutoring Sessions:

  1. Book your Tutoring sessions on this website: https://frenchteachers13.fr/booking/ 
    Please note that Group 6, 7 and 8 will be able to book tutoring sessions from the 2nd month on training ( the time to learn the basics).
    Your appointment is confirmed by email, please set up a reminder in your Outlook to not miss any session.

How to cancel your Tutoring sessions: 

If you are unable to attend your tutorial, please cancel your booking as soon as possible with the link provided in the confirmation email you received. Please check your spam box if you do not see the confirmation. Your cancellation can allow another learner to participate.

PRESENTIAL COURSES

Five days of FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES are organized every year in Building 72.

All groups will be invited to attend a face-to-face course with their teacher and to meet for a moment of sharing and tasting of gourmet products.

The dates of the presential classes for 2024-25 are:

  1. Tuesday 05 November 2024: La Provence
  2. Thursday 09 January 2025: Les célébrations de début d’année (les bonnes résolutions du Nouvel An, l’Epiphanie, et la Chandeleur) 
  3. Monday 24 February 2025: Les plus beaux carnavals en France (Nice, Dunkerque et la Fête du Citron à Menton)
  4. Tuesday 1st April 2025: La France d’outre-mer
  5. Thursday 26 June  2025: Les festivités de juillet en France (le Tour de France et la fête nationale) +  la cérémonie des diplômes

ABSENCE FORM (for group classes)

In case of absence, learners have to inform the teachers by filling the absence e-form hereunder.

Absence Form 2024/25

We kindly remind you that your unjustified absence to 2 or more training classes will result in your exclusion from the training program.

B72/1012bis FRENCH CLASSROOM

The classroom B72/1012bis is at your disposal during lessons and tutorials.

If you’re looking for a quiet area to attend your French classes when you are on-site, you can settle down in the French classroom B72/1012bis located near the Lobby (next to the Lecture Room).
Cleaning wipes and hydroalcoholic gel are available in the classroom.

LEARNING RESOURCES

In class, we use the books “EDITO Méthode de Français” level A1, A2 and B1 from Didier FLE.

This collection will grant you access to the e-book as well as audio and video resources.

When you receive your book via internal mail, to activate the online resources, go to this website: www.bibliotheque.didierfle.fr to create your account.  You’ll need to enter your email address and the activation code given on the back of the cover page of your book.

Since January 2024, some French books and DVDs are available in the closet of the French class room located in Buiding 72/ room 1012bis (this is next to the Lecture room)

The door is open, please select your book/dvd and write your name in the loan booklet on the shelve and specify when you borrow the book. When you return the book, please write the date of return on the loan booklet.

Some dictionnaries and other learning books are also available.
